They are most effective against infantry units inside of terrain defense as they deal 2x damage against terrain. With the Capture perk, Flame Launchers can capture neutral units and buildings. By possessing the Demoralize perk, Flame Launchers can force any enemy infantry units to retreat by attacking them. While this can be used to easily get infantry units blocking your shots out of the way, it can sometimes be detrimental as enemies could retreat outside of the range of allied units, preventing them from being knocked out within that turn. Attacking first with other units before firing the Flame Launcher can remedy this issue, however.
