Often recorder manufacturers make them compatible with their products. Usually these "better" NVRs have the option of connecting cameras via RTSP, not to mention jpg. The second one (the newer model with HD) currently resets itself from time to time, the image is broken when motion is detected (supposedly HD but uploads to ftp VGA with MEGA, MEGA compression - only artifacts when connected via IE the picture is great). Motion detection gives a lot of falsehoods with minimal sensitivity.
