The first in-engine footage has been revealed for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion which debuts Idris Elba's new character and a returning Keanu Reeves. It also gives us a deeper look at the late game of Night City, which sees V and a cast of new characters, attempt to find a way to save their life. As expected, the first new paid story DLC takes place before the end of the main storyline. Thankfully, there isn't long to wait for more Cyberpunk action. The base game launched back in late 2020 and has since been followed up by a wealth of patches and in-game content, as well as the popular Netflix Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series, too. It's awesome to see Johnny Silverhand back in action, and Idris Elba's presence is greatly appreciated in what promises to be the next big thing for one of the best RPGs around. It's currently unknown exactly how long Phantom Liberty will be, but we're hopeful for at least a good 10 or so hours minimum. Having Johnny Silverhand return is a smart move from the development team as Keanu Reeves' character remains incredibly popular. His contributions to the story are absolutely instrumental, so more time spent with him, and presumably Rogue as well as other members of The Afterlife, is definitely going to be a hit. That showcase will have a specific date for release. It does appear that Phantom Liberty is quite likely to make it out in 2023, which will be about three years after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in December of 2020. The past three years have been a marathon of fixes, small free additions and the implementation of graphical upgrades like path tracing which have made it among the best-looking PC games currently in existence.We know little about Phantom Liberty itself, only bits and pieces from the teaser trailer which has V and Johnny retuning, pre-Cyberpunk ending which is pretty definitive for those characters. V will be working for some sort of government org. Idris Elba is here and is the face of this DLC, playing a performance captured version of himself just like Keanu Reeves’ Johnny.It’s a busy year, certainly, but I will definitely be making time for Phantom Liberty. This month CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has revealed more details about the upcoming and highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty. Announcing that the new DLC will feature actor Idris Elba will play a named character Solomon Reed, playing the role of an FIA Agent for the NUSA.CD Projekt Red also included a few other details in the tweet including confirmation that Phantom Liberty will take place in an “all new district” of the game’s Night City setting, and it will be a “spy-thriller expansion.” The Phantom Liberty expansion is expected to officially launch sometime next year during 2023, although no specific release date has been confirmed as yet. As you would expect the DLC will be available to play on Xbox, PlayStation and PC systems.
