Bowser's incoming forces. This sequence shows off an extensive look at the Jungle Kingdom that varies a lot from what fans may be accustomed to from the "Donkey Kong Country" games. In "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," the Jungle Kingdom has a highly-advanced road system, complete with high-octane kart drivers. Furthermore, plenty of iconic "Donkey Kong Country" characters make cameos in the movie. Thankfully for fans of the "Donkey Kong" games, rumors of Illumination giving Rogen's character his own spin-off have been circling since 2021. He even reiterated his support for a "Donkey Kong Country" movie in an interview with ScreenRant. It seems as if a "Donkey Kong Country" spin-off is possible within the next few years, since the cast of Kongs has already been assembled. Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment continue to release new posters focusing on characters from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Today, three new posters were revealed, one for Bowser, one for Toad, and one for Donkey Kong. The Bowser poster teases the conclusion of Bowser’s attack on the penguins showcased in the film’s first trailer, as he triumphantly stands with a Power Star in hand. The Toad and DK posters don’t offer us much to go on, simply offering a look at the characters in a field of mushrooms and the jungle, respectively. The three posters join a number of other designs that have been released over the last week! Videos by ComicBook.com The three new posters from the movie can be found below. The trailers for The Super Mario Bros. Movie have given us a clear idea what roles Bowser and Toad will be playing, but there are a lot of questions surrounding Donkey Kong. The film’s second trailer and recent commercial have both shown Mario and Donkey Kong fighting in an arena, but it’s unclear if this is part of Mario’s training to take on Bowser. Donkey Kong and Mario have a long history as rivals, dating back to the Donkey Kong arcade game from 1981. That game marked the first appearances of both characters, as well as Pauline. Starting with Donkey Kong Country in 1994, the Kong family started to be depicted as heroes, and this has mostly been the standard since. A few years after the Donkey Kong arcade game, Bowser would make his first appearance in 1985’s Super Mario Bros. for NES. While Donkey Kong has been redeemed over the years, Bowser is most frequently depicted in an antagonistic role. Or the more obscure Kiddy Kong, who was introduced in Donkey Kong Country 3?Even if this isn’t Diddy Kong in the shot, we have reason to believe that characters like Diddy may be in this movie, as a number of official character posters were revealed alongside the trailer’s release. In Donkey Kong’s poster you can see the stands of the arena from the start of the trailer, and way in the back, besides what seems to be Cranky Kong, are the smaller Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong. Hopefully, we'll get to see them have a role in this movie as well. They also seem to be standing next to Swanky Kong from Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3. How many Kongs are there in this movie?!Finally, we get 3 iconic Mario actions to end the trailer. Mario hops in his Kart to start a drifting turn, and we hear the classic Mario jumping sound from the NES games. Then, Mario drifts around the road, gaining speed, very similar to how the Mario Kart games, before delivering the signature Mario “Wa-hoo!”We tried our best to find as many details as we could, but this is such a full trailer that we may have missed something! Let us know in the comments if there were any other easter eggs or references that we missed.
