This area of iPad settings is present in all versions of iOS/iPad released in recent years. The “experimental webkit settings” page is perhaps poorly named - as this page includes advanced settings that influence many key configuration items of Safari and other elements of iPadOS. Many items that you see work with reverse logic.Unless you know exactly what you are doing, you would be well advised to leave these settings well alone. Short of a full reset of all iPad Settings, there is no “undo” or settings button that can restore the default Webkit settings. Custom scrollbars make the website feel and look different. The browser’s scrollbar can be customized using CSS. Using CSS pseudo-element, you can easily change the default scrollbar style with your custom style. In this tutorial, we will show how you can make custom scrollbar and customize the look of the browser’s scrollbar with Webkit (pseudo element).WebKit allows you to styling scrollbars with your custom CSS. If scrollbar pseudo-element is defined, WebKit turns off the built-in scrollbar style and use the style provided in CSS under ::-webkit-scrollbar element. Here we’ll provide short CSS code snippet to change the default scrollbar style and create a custom scrollbar with WebKit. We’ll use only 3 pseudo-element, webkit-scrollbar, webkit-scrollbar-track, and webkit-scrollbar-thumb in WebKit. Use the following CSS in your web page to make custom scrollbars.Custom Scrollbar Style 1:::-webkit-scrollbar { width: 12px;}::-webkit-scrollbar-track { -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.3); border-radius: 10px;}::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb { border-radius: 10px; -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);}Custom Scrollbar Style 2:::-webkit-scrollbar { width: 12px;}::-webkit-scrollbar-track { -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.3); border-radius: 10px;}::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb { border-radius: 10px; -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);}Custom Scrollbar Style 3:::-webkit-scrollbar{ width: 12px; background-color: #F5F5F5;}::-webkit-scrollbar-track{ -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.3); background-color: #F5F5F5;}::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb{ background-color: #F90; background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(90deg,rgba(255, 255, 255, .2) 25%,transparent 25%,transparent 50%,rgba(255, 255, 255, .2) 50%,rgba(255, 255, 255, .2) 75%,transparent 75%,transparent)}Custom Scrollbar in DivYou can create custom scrollbar for div content with Webkit. The element class or id need to be specified in webkit-scrollbar, webkit-scrollbar-track, and webkit-scrollbar-thumb. The following code snippets makes custom scrollbar for a specific div using CSS.HTML Code:div class="content"> div>CSS Code:.content::-webkit-scrollbar { width: 12px;}.content::-webkit-scrollbar-track { -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.3); border-radius: 10px;}.content::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb { border-radius: 10px; -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);}Scrollbar Selectors (Pseudo Elements)The following pseudo elements are available for customizing the browser’s scrollbar.::-webkit-scrollbar – Select the scrollbar.::-webkit-scrollbar-button – Select the buttons on the scrollbar.::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb – Select the draggable scrolling handle.::-webkit-scrollbar-track – Select the progress bar of the scrollbar.::-webkit-scrollbar-track-piece – Select the progress bar without handle.::-webkit-scrollbar-corner – Select the bottom corner of the scrollbar.::-webkit-resizer – Select the draggable resizing handle.ConclusionIn our example code snippet, only some basic styles are provided for the custom scrollbar. You can change the custom scrollbars style based on your web page UI. To customize the scrollbar, specify the CSS with ::-webkit-scrollbar, ::-webkit-scrollbar-track, and ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb pseudo elements. Exploring Safari's Experimental WebKit Features

Straight forward question by Jay Hughes:@chriscoyier Do we need -moz and -webkit prefixes anymore on popular items such as border radius and box shadow? Is there a post abt this?— Jay Hughes (@graphicsjay) November 28, 2012I didn’t specifically have a post about this, so let’s do it!Short AnswerSpecifically for box-shadow and border-radius, probably not.You only need them if:It’s a rare situation where the square-corner or no-shadow fallback hurts the experience. And your site has significant traffic of Firefox 3.6-, Safari 4-, iOS 3.2-, or Android 2.3-Long AnswerLet’s explore a bit deeper. First, you can see exactly what browsers support what features at Can I use…. Second, you should only make decisions about feature support based on statistics from your own site and nothing else. border-radiusFirefox 3.6- needs -moz-. From 4 up, unprefixed is fine. On this site, that’s 0.3% of the 30% or so that use Firefox.Safari 4- needs -webkit-. That’s even smaller for this site. 0.1% of the 10% or so using Safari.iOS 3.x needs -webkit- too, which means an iPhone 3GS or iPad 1 that have never been upgraded, which is the smallest number yet.Again, it’s your sites stats that matter, but I’d guess most sites are well under 1% for all this combined. Not to mention, a non-rendering border-radius is the poster child for “who cares” fallbacks.box-shadowBox shadow is similar but slightly more strict. Exactly the same for Firefox and iOS. Safari needs -webkit- in 5.0-, but was fixed just three months later in 5.1 (which shipped with OS X 10.7).The most significant difference is that Android 2.3 needs -webkit-. Can I Use listed it as needed on 4.0, but I sent in a correction and they fixed within hours, so that’s good to know! Even on this site, I’m looking at 0.5%, which is way higher than those other browsers. If you’re site is specifically mobile-y, I bet this number is much higher. It’s likely that the fallback of not having box shadows is no big deal, but I have seen a situation where it mattered so hey.
