To load an image into a PC emulator, it will actually reduce the amount of CPU usage the emulator takes up. I remember reading that on VMware's documentation. But anyways, I'm glad you're finding other (better) methods. However, just as you can install Windows 7 on external disks, you can do so with XP (BartPE is the tool to do this, except there isn't a single plug-in for any sound card, as far as I know). _______________________Technology: the one thing that's hated & cursed at by all engineers, technologists, scientists & technicians!(Lousy modern technology! ) jsr Administrator Member for: 6933 days Location: Sweden Status: Offline #8946 Ok so it didn't work. I guess there is something in wine that needs to be restarted. Is it USB headphones? Have you tried changing the audio output device in settings window? _______________________Programmer and developer Veter Member for: 5330 days Location: Sacramento, CA (Summer): Valencia, CA (School) Status: Offline #8953 Nah, It's not a USB headphone. Yeah, I also tried changing the output device in the settings window. I think it may be a direct issue with Wine or X11. I can check on Google to see if there are any similar problems on it that I have relating to sound. kinkinkijkin Member for: 5375 days Location: Not where my face is Status: Offline #9221 Have you tried extrenal speakers? Plugging in headphones with external speakers doesn't effect the computer, external speakers have volume control on them, and can go louder, meaning you can turn down the operating system volume to consume less CPU and RAM. And, it's less expensive than having headphone sensor deactivated, therefore not letting your computer know that you plugged in headphones/external speakers. The thing is, though, you can't bring external speakers everywhere. But, still, it's better than starting to not like using FamiTracker.. Windows systems on Macs would be:1. Use Boot Camp & switch between Windows & Mac OS X.2. Use VirtualBox, Parallels or VMware to emulate a PC inside of your computer (that way, you can run Windows at the same time as you run Mac OS X).3. Virtual Box makes my laptop go apeshit with the fan buzzing non-stop. It eats up too much CPU and RAM power. Parallels and Virtual Machine do the same thing, and also require a partition. Boot camp also requires a partition.I don't want to partition my laptop. I only have 120 Gigs total with my laptop. When I have to install Windows XP or 7 it'll suck up around 15 gigs in Virtual Machine, Parallels, or Boot Camp. 15 gigs to run FamiTracker isn't reasonable for me, unless if I want to run other programs. But I don't.Maybe I can learn how to install Windows 7 on an External Hard-drive. XP doesn't support that feature. I can look it up for Windows 7.I'm not struggling with Wine. The headphone thing isn't that big of a deal, because restarting FamiTracker takes less than half a minute for me. I hardly ever need to switch throughout the day, so it's more of an inconvenience than a hindrance.I like to learn how to program within the X11 Terminal and Mac Terminal. I learned how to disable the Widgets in order to free up the F12 button, so that was cool. I even learned how to remap the "Delete" and "Insert" keys which were totally omitted from my keyboard to use it in Wine for FamiTracker. But, F12 didn't work with the sound issue, haha. It's weird, I don't even know if it's a hardware problem or a software problem. IT…32 channels, and set it to IT…8 channels. Then click on the Instrument tab, and click the folder icon (import instrument) to load… and you select your .wav file. It will load it both as a sample and as an instrument. You can go back to the Sample tab if you want to turn on looping and edit the start/end point. To add more instruments, in the Instrement Tab, you will probably have to hit “Insert Instrument” first, then “Import Instrument” second, then locate the next .wav file.Back to the Instrument tab, you will want to give it a volume envelope. So at the bottom click “Vol” and move and add dots to create a volume envelope for the instrument. If you like, you can loop the envelope, or part of the envelope. You could use this to make a tremolo effect (like a vibraphone). An important note. If you want a sustained note, you will probably want to click the envelope LOOP button. If the LOOP button isn’t checked, and if the volume envelope doesn’t go down to zero at the end, once it reaches the last dot on the envelope, it will use the “Fade Out” value to slowly fade out the instrument. Higher = faster fade out, Lower = slower fade out. The picture below, the envelope DOES go down to zero, so there is no need for the fade out value… but if the last dot was in the middle, it would start to slowly fade out at that point. Then you write the song in the Pattern. Select an instrument and a column and press keyboard keys to enter notes. Frames per second??? Posted: 2015-03-14 00:53 Reply | Quote Sondi Member for: 3651 days Status: Offline #66867 I want to create music, but before I start I want to know one thing; how many frames are in a second in Famitracker when the speed is set to 6?This is just a quick question, and i'd like the help. I've been planning to create music covers by ear, and I can't start without a brisk idea on the seconds per number. Is 08 a second here? Posted: 2015-03-14 02:30 (Last Edited: 2015-03-14 02:49) Reply | Quote Stratelier Member for: 3949 days Status: Offline #66871 It doesn't ...quite work that way.- The NES audio engine updates at a TV refresh rate; this is 60HZ on NTSC (equivalant to 900BPM). Regardless of your actual song tempo, this is the maximum resolution of the audio engine.- Tempo is the # of rows (of pattern data) played per 15 seconds. If your song uses four rows per beat (the default setting) and the default Speed (6) then Tempo corresponds directly to overall BPM. This value maxes at 255, btw.- Speed is a Tempo multiplier (or divisor, actually); the default setting of 6 means "1.0x tempo". Speed 12 means half tempo, Speed 3 means double tempo, and so on. (Speed 8 is 0.75x tempo, btw.) If you need a tempo faster than 255BPM then you'll need a Speed setting - A useful coincidence with the default settings is at Tempo 150, there are exactly 6 engine cycles per each row played. This corresponds directly with the Speed setting; if you keep your Tempo at the default setting of 150 (or 125 for PAL) then you can use the song Speed to directly control the # of engine cycles per each row of pattern data (an advanced method of controlling song tempo). When you're done, look at the bottom of the status bar for a BPM value (calculated from all the above settings). This tells you the perceived tempo of your song at those settings. Finally, there's one last value: The Row 1 highlight on the toolbar. This is just a UI setting, but the BPM shown in the statusbar is calculated taking this into account too. So if you're working with an unusual time signature or need higher note resolution than 16th notes, adjust this value to match the desired # of rows per beat. (For example: If you need a lot of 32nd notes, set the Row 1 highlight to 8, then maybe set your song speed to 3 to compensate.)For me, the best way to analyze tempo is record it in something like Audacity, then highlight a snippet that is about 4 or 8 beats long,Comments
