Thread starter LoneWolf Start date Nov 7, 2010 #1 Hi folks,I'm thinking of switching to the TM700. Unfortunately, this camera has a choice of just:1080/60P - unsupported by anything Final Cut (via Log and Transfer at least)1080/24P - which is unsupported by FCE so I can't use it (sorry.. can't afford the upgrade)1080/60i - which should be ok, but I'm not a fan of interlacedWhat I really want is 1080/30P output. I'm prepared to chop 60P down to 30P - would you nominate Voltaic or ClipWrap as the better solution? I could dump the clips into either, and export to AIC and then edit in FCE, using those programs as a substitute for log & transfer. Wish Panasonic had given me my 30P option..... but such is life.. Or should I just shoot 1080/60i and live with the quality loss and let FCE take care of the deinterlacing? #2 My believe is that ClipWrap2 is faster.Not certain what you mean about having FCE take care of the deinterlacing. #4 I'm glad to see someone else struggling with the same problems I've been having. I spend a lot of time and largely wasted effort trying to get files from my TM700 into FCE 4. I tried conversions from a couple different sources and found that I would end up with a huge conversion time and picture quality that was pretty crummy. That is that FCE hangs when you select the voiceover tool. I had no problems at all with FCE when running on SeaLion.I am using an iMAC running OS 10.7 and FCE 4.0.1.Any help gratefully received !!! Useful solution was to buy Clipwrap 2. That did the job. (You'll see my thread in this forum on Clipwrap settings.) I copied files shot in HG mode onto my desktop, converted them using Clipwrap, and was able to drag them into the FCP browser. I haven't tried moving them into FCE, but I could try that. When converted, there isn't even any extra rendering time in FCP. There is a weird interlacing effect (combing on hard vertical edges that are moving) that I haven't gotten rid of entirely yet. The folks at Divergent Media were very prompt in answering my email enquiries. #5 I took a bit of footage shot in (default) HG mode from my TM700, and converted it into plain ProRes 422 using ClipWrap. When I put that into FCP 7, it works fine. No rendering necessary. I dragged the same bit of converted footage into FCE 4 (simply dragged it into the browser, no log and transfer) and I was able to put it in the timeline. It had to be rendered. After rendering, I am afraid that it lost some of its HD sparkle. It looked like I had used something like Aunsoft to convert it to MOV. Maybe somebody else out there has a better idea, but I think you're going to have to upgrade to FCP. I does not appear that FCE has the capacity to work with this kind of footage. It's sad. I didn't want to upgrade either but it was that or simply not use the camera. (Of course I was really annoyed before I found out about Clipwrap.
