Jack Wallen/ZDNETWith the latest update of the Google Calendar app on Android, users will see a new icon directly to the left of their profile image. That icon is for Tasks, which means you no longer have to use separate apps for your calendar and your to-dos. The Tasks icon is directly to the left of your profile image. Screenshot by Jack Wallen/ZDNETFrom within the new UI, you can view tasks, add tasks, and mark tasks as done. The new UI looks very similar to that of the actual Tasks app and even allows you to view all of your lists. In fact, the two are fairly identical. This full-screen task manager view makes it easier to move back and forth between your tasks and your calendar. Although the windows look the same, you are not taken to the Tasks app; instead, everything remains within Calendar. Here are my 6 favorite features so farThe Google Calendar update is rolling out to Google Workspace users, subscribers, and personal Google accounts. At the moment, this update is for Android only, and there is no indication as to when the addition will arrive for iOS. Google has made it considerably easier to manage your tasks from the Google Calendar app. Screenshot by Jack Wallen/ZDNETAlthough the Tasks app won't be required going forward, if you make use of the Tasks widget, you'll want to keep the app installed on your device, as the Calendar app does not have a Tasks widget. I ran a quick test and removed the Tasks app from my Pixel 9 Pro to see if Tasks would still be available via the Calendar app, and it is. If you don't care for the redundancy, or you have no need for the Tasks widget, you can go ahead and remove the Tasks app and manage your to-dos with the Calendar app.Tasks is a fairly basic to-do list application, and Google hasn't done much to develop the service. Now that Tasks is seeing
