Complete Guide to Hearthstone and other TCGs Refugees - Mechanics and Tools for the Competitive Scene IntroductionDue to the success of the first Complete LoR Guide for other TCGs Refugees, I decided to write a part 2, going deeper into the details about the similar mechanics and Tournament performances, the competitive scene and talk about some tools I particularly like to use to get better at the game. Let's go!Translating Hearthstone Mechanics to LoR Every digital card game uses keywords to represent the effects of its cards, but some mechanics can be very similar or even identical from one game to another, save for their different names.I propose we analyze Hearthstone's mechanics and keywords and compare them to Runeterra's. Same keywords, but with different names or some additional effectBattlecry: In LoR, we use "Play". Units that have a "Play" effect don't activate their effects if they are summoned onto the board without being directly played from hand. And some units have a variant of the "play" effect, in which the card effect goes to the stack. That is described in a small bubble at the beginning of the effect. Combo: In LoR, we use "Nightfall". The card only activates its effect if you have played a card before in that round.Deathrattle: In LoR, we use "Last Breath". The card activates its effect when it is destroyed. Obliterated cards don't activate their "Last Breath" effect.Discover: In LoR, we use "Manifest". You select a card from three randomly created cards in your hand and create a copy of it. And in Hearthstone, "Divine Shield" is permanent until the unit suffers damage. Lifesteal: In LoR, we use "Lifesteal". By dealing damage, the units heal the Nexus by the same amount. Silence and Magnetic: In LoR, we use "Silence". All keywords, abilities and active effects are disabled. Attached units* and equipment can't be silenced.*Units with attach are cards which, when played from your hand, allow you to choose from playing it as a regular unit, or attaching it to an ally unit, working as a "Magnetic" unit from Hearthstone. However, when you connect two units in Legends of Runeterra, the health and power stats, plus the keywords, are transferred to the attached ally. But if it is by any chance destroyed, the attached unit goes back into your hand.In case the attached unit is obliterated, the unit with the attach effect is also obliterated. I've been going through the FPP Manual and the xLights manual trying to see where I tell the K16 controller that I'm using the two RS-485 ports. On each of my 2 K16's I plan on running 4-5 LOR AC CTB16PC's on one port and then some DMX (dumb rgb on one and moving heads on the other) on the other port.I have FPP manual 2.2, is this the most recent? Am I missing how I do this in FPP?At the bottom of page 82 it starts the section on "Other Output" and I can set LOR or DMX. And here are some questions:The K16 says it has 4 RJ45 differential ports, an expansion connector and 2 RS485 outputs for DMX/LOR. The RJ45 are pretty obvious as the is expansion connector. Are ttys1/s2 the RS485? If so, no need for a crossover cable on LOR because you just use the correct color in the ports?Do I need to select which port on the K16 somewhere since I want one pushing LOR and another pushing DMX? Or is that only done in FPP?If ttys1/s2 are correct, is there a link somewhere that shows me which wires for LOR (I believe blue/bluewhite) and which for DMX (again I believe orange/orangewhite/browns)? Correct, the ttyS1/S2 are the RS485 connectors. They are named that as that is what Linux names them so that's how they will appear in the drop down list when configuring them.On the "Others" tab of the Outputs page, you can setup those two outputs. By default, there would be 2 outputs configured as DMX there, but they are disabled. For DMX, you would just need to set the start channel and enable them. If you want to use the LOR protocol (not recommended, strongly suggest using DMX to the LORs), you would need to "Add" a LOR output type and configure the appropriate port/speed/etc.... 2025-04-24Labelled on the board so just need to find the right. pin needed by the LOR OR DMX device. (none of my DMX devices use CAT5 so I cannot help) Thanks for the heads up Dan. I'll have to see for mine. Last year I had to create a crossover cable for DMX which are a couple of dumb rgb boxes I bought off someone here in Michigan so I know the two pin outs, just not 100% if there was a ground. Same I believe for the LOR boxes, just two on the cat5. The other DMX are moving heads so I believe the brown/brownwhite are ground if you use cat5 but a simple google search will confirm that. LOR pinouts are:Pin 4 (ve+)Pin 5 (ve-)Technically LOR doesn't use a ground at all however most of their controllers send power out to power their accessories so most just tie into the ground into pin 6. Pin 3 has the 10 volts on it so make sure there is no connection to your controllers with that. Hello @dkulp (or anyone else who knows the answer). On the K16 (and/or 32), am I able to use Auto-Layout with xLights if I have DMX items on ttys1/s2? I don't see where you can select those as a port, and not sure how it would push that information into the "other" tab in fpp.So in this instance, I have a K16 controlling the house and am using ports 1-14. Now I have a few DMX AC boxes (LOR running as DMX) that I want to send signal off ttys1 and some other DMX items I was going to put on ttys2. I can get my end channel for the controller from inside xLights on port 14 (which happens to be 6,228), so if I'm not letting xLights configure I know in FPP to go to the other tab and put in port: ttys1, start channel: 6229 and for simplicity I'll say one box so 16 channels.
