Thread Status: Not open for further replies. 2005/04/08 Thundercracker Inactive Thread Starter Joined: 2004/10/23 Messages: 18 Likes Received: 0 Hi, I've recently downloaded Messener 7 and when I try to log in it comes up with the error "Signing into MSN Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. 8007012e" It does this every time I try to log in, I've tried using different accounts, uninstalling and re-installing it but it doesn't help. I've checked that it can connect using the test connection and advanced connection settings but both say that I can connect and that there are no problems with the system settings or software. I've also checked that the MSN service is running when I try to log in. The accounts work in Messenger 6.2 so I don't think it's that. Has anyone had any problems like this, I've read that a Norton Firewall may affect it but I've disabled it and it still won't work.Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. 2005/05/21 santabaia Inactive Joined: 2005/05/21 Messages: 2 Likes Received: 0 The same problemI have the same problem. but I am using the firewall of McFee. I had a similar issue with IE8 on vista and it turned out that my antivirus (sophos) addon was causing the issue, stop it and then will work fine.Try disabling all of the add ons then add them back on one at a time until it crashes again.hope this helpsI forgot to add :You don't need to reinstall Windows in case you McFee+SA is hurting your system performance, you can opt to tweak, disable or uninstall the McFee+SA software and replace with another.(I re-install on my system because I want to learn something in my this netbook.)RegardsHi Folks,Sorry for the delay in responding. I am still trying to narrow down a cause for this issue. It still happens, but not very frequently so it is difficult to troubleshoot. As soon as I reboot the problem goes away and it can be days or weeks before it occurs again. It does not seem to be related to any of the suggestions posted, but again it is difficult to determine. Windows 7 and the entire machine froze (not just internet explorer) after I installed McAfee with SiteAdvisor. The only way to get it to unfreeze was to boot in safe mode and disable the SiteAdvisor service. Once that was done everything started working again.It's sad to see that many decent systems returns to the 8-bit performance era with this kind of security apps.I got a "similar" situation with the software that you mention (maybe same version).I buy a netbook that cames with McFee+SA (with 1 or 2 month trial), at first I wonder if the netbooks was a bad choice (slow on startup + navigation + open files + IE crashes, etc.), I give chance to McF the trial time just to know it, after the time trial of McF-soft expired, I backup our personal data, reinstall windows (I want know what need to be installed), but instead of use McF I install Avast Home (free for a year by home use). Now at home we are happy using this system (+3 months ago) zero issues and the slow effect is gone.Of course it's your choice what security apps you want to run on your system.Hope you can try others apps and finally end with a well configured system.
