Wikipedia.Creating an ODBC Data SourceI'm going to assume that you have 1) MapInfo Pro installed and 2) a database system installed too. In my example, I will use PostgreSQL with PostGIS. The steps would be similar for another database system such as MS SQL Server.First, you need to download and install the specific PDBC driver for the database system. For PostgreSQL with PostGIS, you can find the drivers here: odbc.postgresql.org. For MS SQL Server, this is a good starting place: Download ODBC Driver for SQL Server. If you look in the latest Release Notes document, you can find a list of ODBC drivers that MapInfo Pro supports. These are drivers that have been tested with MapInfo Pro. We may also support newer/older versions but we can't be sure as we have tested these. As MapInfo Pro is a 64-bit application, you also need to ensure that you install a 64-bit driver. These are the supported drivers for MapInfo Pro v2021.1:Microsoft Access ODBC (64-bit)Microsoft SQL Server 2019Microsoft SQL Server 2017Microsoft SQL Server 2016Microsoft SQL Server 2012 QFE Native Client v11 (64-bit)PostgreSQL Unicode and ANSI ODBC driver 13.01 (64-bit)FDO toolkit 3.8 (used by SQLite and installed with MapInfo Pro)Oracle Instant Client 19.11 (64-bit)Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server 17.8You may also have to reach out to your IT department to get the ODBC driver installed on your system.Once the ODBC Driver has been installed, it's time to create an ODBC Data Source. This meant that the 32-bit driver had to be used, and thus Olemo's observation re the respective location of the relevant odbcad32.exe files was the key to unlocking this puzzleI didn't realize that the 64-bit version of the ODBC administration applet was named odbcad32.exe. That seems like a recipe for the exact kind of problems you experienced. Glad we could help.===========NOTE:If anyone reads this and works for Microsoft, rename this odbcad64.exe.@luciendejongPlease explain your comment.. DBMS Requirements Software Requirements Configuration Requirements Next... DBMS Requirements Your target data source must be SQL compliant. You must have all information necessary to configure a JDBC connection to the data source. Software Requirements You need to know whether the client application is 32-bit or 64-bit. The Single-Tier "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for JDBC Data Sources must match the bit format of the client application. You must have JDBC drivers that connect to the target data source. The client portion of these drivers must be installed on the same machine as the Single-Tier ("Lite" Edition) ODBC Driver for JDBC Data Sources. You must have a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) that is compatible with the Single-Tier "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for JDBC Data Sources -- Generally, the latest JVM from is the best choice. If using the 32-bit ODBC Driver, you must have the 32-bit JVM, even on 64-bit Windows. If using the 64-bit ODBC Driver, you must have the 64-bit JVM, which is automatically presented only to 64-bit IE but may be manually selected for download using any browser. It is generally best to install both 32-bit JVM and 64-bit JVM on 64-bit Windows. Configuration Requirements You must know the driver class name of your JDBC driver. You must know the full details of the JDBC connection URL that connects to your target JDBC Data Source. The path to the directory containing the jvm.dll must be included in your %PATH% Environment Variable. To do this, proceed as follows -- Use

I have the same problem, but using a Word Macro.I think the problem is in the 64-bit ODBC Text driver.I have opened a couple of issues with Microsoft, but have not received a helpful answer. In my case, the 32nd time the macro does a mail merge, using the Microsoft 64-bit ODBC Text driver for MS Access, the error "Too many client tasks" appears. Perhaps each mail merge calls the ODBC driver two times? My Word 2021 is 64-bit only and uses the 64-bit ODBC Text Driver. It cannot use the 32-bit ODBC Text Driver (or any 32-bit ODBC driver, it seems).Attempted fixes: Restart the PC. That didn't help. Added code to close the connection from the macro, but that didn't help. The code: ActiveDocument.MailMerge.DataSource.Close Download MDAC 2.8 and install it. That didn't help. Added a loop to add a one-second delay after every single Mail Merge. This makes the macro run a lot slower, but the same exact error happens at the 32nd Mail Merge every single time. I got a trial of the Progress ODBC Text Driver. This product can do at least 100 mail merges and doesn't give the "too many client tasks" error. However, if you don't define the data type for each column, it can fail if it thinks a column is a datetime, and then fail if the data is not in the format it expects. On May 3, 2023, I opened an issue with Microsoft Support. Request Number:1053009051Title:Getting "Too many client tasks" from Access ODBC. If you have a 64-bit ODBC driver, select Set up ODBC data sources (64-bit) and use 64-bit DatabaseSpy in the subsequent steps.2.Click the System DSN tab, and then click Add.3.Select Teradata Database ODBC Driver and click Finish.4.Enter name and, optionally, a description that will help you identify this ODBC data source in future. Also, enter the database connection credentials (Database server, User, Password), and, optionally, select a database.5.Click OK. The data source now appears in the list. 6.Run DatabaseSpy and start the database connection wizard. 7.Click ODBC Connections. 8.Click System DSN, select the data source created previously, and then click Connect.Note:If you get the following error: "The driver returned invalid (or failed to return) SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER: 03.80", make sure that the path to the ODBC client (for example, C:\Program Files\Teradata\Client\16.10\bin, if you installed it to this location) exists in your system's PATH environment variable. If this path is missing, add it manually.

3.0 or later driver. ODBC connectivity provides basic querying capability, but may not be as full-featured as a native connection in Toad. For a list of databases tested with the ODBC provider, see the Release Notes. This form of connectivity allows connections to databases such as Netezza, IBM iSeries, Ingres, and Vertica. Note: Distinct values are not available in Code Completion for ODBC connections. DSN Architecture (Bitness) Must Match ToadTo create a successful ODBC connection, the architecture (bitness) of the driver in the specified DSN must match the architecture (bitness) of Toad. For example, 64-bit Toad requires an applicable 64-bit driver and 32-bit Toad requires an applicable 32-bit driver. To create an ODBC connectionClick on the toolbar (ALT+F+N+O).
