Unless longtime fans still have a working PSP or PS Vita, this is an impeccable way to revisit one of role-playing’s most relevant efforts. 90 The Mako Reactor My issues with Persona 3 Portable itself aside, the new PC port is excellent. It scales across different hardware well, runs well and looks good on Steam Deck, and arrives without the issues P4G had at launch on PC. It is disappointing that after all these years Persona 3's arrival on modern platforms isn't a complete remake, but it is hard to argue with the value P3P provides at its low asking price right now. 81 metacriticBased on 24 critics. 6.4 User ScoreBased on 37 user reviews. 90 God is a Geek Persona 3 Portable has a script that's sharp as a tack, and one which makes you identify and fall in love with the quirky cast of characters that you interact with, as well as feeling very much in control of your protagonist. 80 Hardcore Gamer Persona 3 Portable is still a fantastic entry, kicking off the subseries that ended up surpassing the mainline Shin Megami Tensei titles. It features a solid cast of characters, a remarkable storyline and an addictive combat system -- even though it hasn’t aged as well as we had hoped. 2025-04-23These certainly make the Tartarus sections look nicer, as well as adding some more filtering to the lower-resolution 2D elements. Screenshot by PC Invasion Bizarrely, you can swap the fps between 30, 60, and 120. You can’t run the game uncapped, though. As a lot of Persona 3 Portable is menus, the game doesn’t benefit all that much from a high framerate, in addition to it being turn-based. Let’s look at the control options. Screenshot by PC Invasion You can get through the game’s menu sections with nothing but your mouse, which is awesome. But the cursor moves where you click it when you’re on a field screen, which is kind of disappointing. The mouse also works to select individual menu elements during combat just like the 4 and 5 PC ports, which is always welcome. You can also rebind almost all of the keyboard controls, but not all. For controllers, you can’t rebind movement or camera control whatsoever, so don’t expect to be able to mess with that. And that’s really all there is to talk about. Persona 3 Portable has a decent PC port considering that it’s mostly an upscale. Having shadows and higher framerates is nice, as is using a mouse to click through the daytime stuff. 2025-04-02We've been waiting a long time to find out about new Persona games, and now we've finally got something to look forward to - a full remake of Persona 3 with modern tech.A newly released trailer has confirmed what has been romoured for years - Atlus is working on a remake of Persona 3 for modern consoles like the Xbox Series X. Find out all the key details right here. Persona 3 Reload release date We got an official release date for Persona 3 Reload at Gamescom 2023 - it'll be out on 2 February 2024. Persona 3 Reload platforms The first trailer for Persona 3's remake begins and ends with Xbox branding, but that doesn't actually mean that it's an exclusive - the game will be coming to PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.Even better for Xbox gamers is the fact that the Game Pass logo's there too, meaning it should be a day one addition to the service at no extra cost. It's clearly a cross-generation release, and won't be skipping older consoles. After the success of Persona 5 Royal's port to the Switch, though, we're a little disappointed to see that it won't hit Nintendo's hardware as yet. Atlus Persona 3 Reload trailers As we've already mentioned, while a remake of Persona 3 has been rumoured for ages, it took Atlus itself to firm things up, when it seemingly accidentally set a trailer for the game live on Instagram. That went viral like wildfire, but we only had to wait a couple of days for the official trailer to be properly shown off at the Xbox Games Showcase. It gives us a pretty good look at the huge update being made to the original, along with some confirmations around its release window and platforms. This was followed up at Gamescom 2023 with a longer trailer showcasing a lot more gameplay and character moments. Persona 3 Reload story Persona 3 was only just rereleased as part of a major sweep of ports that came out for it, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5, but P3's update was notable in being a bit more barebones. It brought Persona 3 Portable, the game's PSP version, to modern hardware, with a lot of 2D art and not a lot of modern polish. Expect that to change with this major remake, while the story should stay largely the same. So, that means a noir-ish story of teenagers trying to figure out what's worth living for in a pretty dark world, and discovering the existence of a twisted parallel reality.Persona 3 Portable let you choose between a male or female protagonist, but Atlus has already been forced to confirm that this won't be included in Persona

Though its visual novel format and grating dungeon-crawling won’t land with every player, Persona 3‘s unsettling plot and colourful friendships will leave you eager for another trip to the Velvet Room. 80 Pure Xbox In terms of this new port, well, you've got all the expected upgrades, high resolution graphics locked at 60fps, a quick save system that can be utilised at any point during the action, and the ability to choose your difficulty right from the get-go. All told, it makes for the slickest version of this classic that we've played so far and, if you've yet to play it, we can't recommend it enough really. 90 RPG Fan Persona 3 Portable is one of those experiences that I need to let go of, eventually, yet it sticks to me like a wound. Take the time to enjoy the social links, the Persona fusion, and the story because enduring games like this one don’t come along often. Between the different versions, Persona 3 is still begging for completion, though the Portable version is a sight better than nothing. If the rumors of a remake are true, then perhaps all of this will be moot. But until then, this is the only way to play Persona 3, and it’s a dark masterpiece that beckons you to get lost in its labyrinthine setting. Hee-Ho! 81 metacriticBased on 9 critics. 4.3 User ScoreBased on 35 user reviews. 85 GamingTrend This remaster may be closer to a simple upscale, but Persona 3 Portable is still an incredible game that set the standard for modern Persona. The game looks and runs great no matter what you play it on, with a few caveats. While this probably won’t settle the debate about P3’s definitive version, it’s great to have it easily available. 80 PC Gamer A PSP classic with systems that show age, but P3P's retelling remains a series best for its stylishly eerie world and intimate look at mortality. 90 Tech-Gaming If you have somehow overlooked the franchise, Persona 3 Portable makes an ideal entry point. Not only does this remaster showcase many of the features that will carry
