The main account contact will receive an activation email from Read Naturally, Inc., with information and instructions about setting up the Read Live account. From the Read Live Home page, click Staff Member. Enter the account number, user ID, and temporary password from the activation email. Click Log In. The first time you log in: You are prompted to change your password. Enter and verify your new password, and then click Save. On the Set Security Question page, select a question and enter an answer that you will easily remember. Then click Save. If you forget your password, you must answer this question to access the software. On the Welcome page, click Go to Home Page. Add schools. Each account starts with one school. If you want to rename your default school or add more schools, select Account & School Administration from the navigation menu. Then click the existing school name or click Add School. Learn more about adding schools Reserve licenses for specific schools if necessary. By default, schools can use any available licenses in the account. If your account has more than one school, Read Naturally recommends that your reserve a specific number of licenses for each school. To reserve a number of licenses for each school, open the navigation menu and select Account & School Administration. Review all the schools in the account, and then click the name of a school to reserve a specific number of licenses for it. Learn more about reserving licenses for schools Add staff members. Each staff member who will be working with students in Read Live needs to be in the system. To add any additional staff members, from the navigation menu, select Staff Member Administration. Then click Add Staff Member. Learn more about adding staff members Add students and license them. Each student needs a license to work in Read Live. To add students one at a time: From the navigation menu, select Student Administration, and then click Student Setup. Click Add Student to add a student and assign him or her a license and lead teacher. Learn more about adding students individually To schedule an import of multiple students at a time and then license the students: From the navigation menu, select Student Administration, and then click Student Import. Follow the instructions for scheduling an import of student data. Learn more about importing student data Once the students are imported, assign licenses and lead teachers to them. From the navigation menu, select Student Administration, click Student Licensing, and then select the school for the students you want to license. Learn more about assigning licenses to students Notes Staff member passwords can be a minimum of 8 characters and are case sensitive. Answers to the security question are not case sensitive. Lead teachers are assigned whenever students are given a Read Naturally Live license. And we could not get past it with consistency. During the I&RS meeting, she was given a goal to increase 20 words within 3 months. My fear was "How was I going to do that?" My school has been using Read Naturally Live for a few years. It was suggested that I try it for her. She began on the 3.0 level. This shy girl began reading aloud when following along, not caring about that others in the room were hearing her. Within 2 months her cold time went from 83 to consistently (3 times) over 100. Now mind you that is a grade level behind. After assessing her on 4th grade she is now consistently reading above 83 words per minute. Not only has her fluency increased, her confidence in reading has made tremendous progress in small group instruction and whole class. This "shy" girl wants to read everything aloud. I am in awe of the fluency progress and confidence in such a short amount of time. This is not my only testament. I am a first-year interventionist, and I have multiple students making significant progress while using this program. My colleagues and I love Read Live. Words and their definitions while listening to an audio recording. The key words provide definitions that are important to understanding the story. In the Phonics series, the student listens to a phonics lesson and reads words that have the featured phonics patterns. Prediction The student uses the title, picture, and key words to write a prediction of what he or she thinks the story is about. The prediction prepares the student’s mind for reading the story. Cold Timing The teacher may time the student for one minute as he or she reads the story, or the student may complete this step independently. The student clicks unknown words while reading, and then clicks the last word read during the timing. Read Naturally Live subtracts the unknown words from the total number of words attempted to obtain a cold-timing score and displays it on a graph. This step establishes a baseline for progress monitoring, the component of the Read Naturally Strategy that motivates the student to improve. Read Along The student reads along quietly with a recording of the story, typically three times. This step is the teacher-modeling component of the Read Naturally Strategy, which helps the student learn new words and master others as well as learn proper pronunciation, expression, and phrasing. Practice The student practices reading the story without audio support three to ten times until able to read it accurately, with expression, and at the goal rate.
