Splice Bridge is the VST3 / AU plugin that connects the Splice Desktop app with your DAW to allow you to preview samples in the key and tempo of your track, and then copy them straight to your project.With Splice Bridge, you can easily try out sounds in the context of your musical compositions before you buy them. By hearing samples in the way you intend to use them, you can choose the most suitable sounds, save time, save credits, and save your creative energy.Bridge is included with all Splice subscriptions, and setup is straightforward. To use Bridge, first make sure that Splice Desktop is up to date, and ensure that ‘Splice Bridge’ is installed in the Apps & Plugins tab.Then, open your DAW and insert the Splice Bridge VST3 / AU plugin on a MIDI track. Splice Desktop will start communicating with the plugin. Not only does this let you match the content of your DAW session to the samples you’re previewing, but it also lets you experiment with flipping the sample into different keys. This gives you options to flip drum loops into different time ranges, and also experiment with extreme time-stretching. Try it out on vocal samples or harmonic content—it’s bound to lead to happy accidents.Copy a modified sample from Splice Desktop to your DAWThe last and most underrated feature of Bridge is the Copy modified sample feature. Once you find a sample you love, hit the + button to download the sound. Once it has downloaded, this button changes state to Copy modified sample. Click this, then navigate to your DAW, and paste the sample (ctrl + V or cmd + V) onto a new audio track. When we first launched Create mode, there were 12 styles that could be used to start or flip a Stack—these included Hit Hop, Night Rave, and Retro Synth. But, the feedback we received from users told us that more recognizable starting points would be more inspiring. So, now you’ll find genres such as House, Pop, and Trap instead. There are still millions of sounds, almost infinite musical combinations, and a multitude of adjacent genres and styles accessible. But, with this improvement, we hope that more certainty around your starting points will help you create with more confidence. Try Create mode on the web for free.Export your Stack as a stereo .wav fileSince we launched Create mode in June 2023, we have been steadily adding Export options—you can export modified stems or original unmodified samples, and you can export to Ableton Live and Studio One. Now, with the latest of our export options, you can save a single, stereo .wav file of your Stack, so you can share with friends and even use it on social media from a mobile device. For the first time, you don’t need a DAW to turn your Stacks into a .wav file. Stacks are exported as 16-bit / 48 kHz files.Sync Stacks in Desktop to your DAW’s BPM via BridgeWe’ve updated Bridge—the free Splice plugin that lets you preview sounds in your track’s key and tempo—and now it’s possible to sync Stacks playing in Desktop with the BPM of your DAW. First, load the Bridge plugin on a MIDI channel in your DAW, and then open Splice Desktop. Your Stacks will play at the same tempo as your DAW. This is a huge creative unlock; now you can build Stacks on top of existing tracks, using our AI-powered sounds discovery tech. Not using the free Splice Bridge plugin? Find out how to get started with it.Heads up: Bridge doesn’t yet match Stacks with the key of your DAW session—like it does with individual sounds—so you may experience some harmonic clashes if your Stack is in a different key to your DAW project.
