Lat Long to UTM Converter – Convert Lat/Long UTM

Steps to reproduceImport Lidar generated contours and slope templates in UTM NAD83(2011) or more recent.Import georeferenced templates in lat/lon WGS84 (e.g., Google satellite images) or use an accurate GPS with OOM on Android.Observe a systematic difference between the Lidar and the GPS positions.Actual behaviourNAD83 and WGS84 in recent realizations no longer coincide. However, most lat/lon to UTM coordinate conversion software, including OOM, assumes they do. The error in Colorado is around 2 m, enough to be noticeable (at least to the mapper) on sprint maps.Expected behaviourOOM should perform lat/lon to UTM conversion correctly. Although it sounds like PROJ-6 should be able to handle this, it may be simpler to use a hack. For any orienteering map, the shift is a constant that can be implemented by a single delta-x delta-y pair. Input fields for this can added to the map georeferencing screen (in lat/lon degrees, UTM meters or, possibly, even map coordinates mm). There are web sites that will the provide the shift (I'll follow up with one later) and survey precision GPS units usually come with software that does the same.In principle, there could be data that come in UTM WGS84. I do not know if we need to handle such cases.ConfigurationMapper Version: latest (Edit: v0.8.4 and/or dev v20190610.2)Operating System: all (Edit: not verified). WGS84 is a geographic coordinate system, while UTM is a projected coordinate system. Geographic coordinate systems use a spheroid and measure angles in degrees, while UTM uses a flat grid system for easier calculations.12. How do you convert coordinates to WGS84?To convert coordinates to WGS84, you can follow these steps:1. Convert the known latitude and longitude coordinates to decimal degrees.2. Use a coordinate conversion tool or software to input the coordinates and convert them to WGS84 format.3. The tool will provide you with the WGS84 coordinates, which you can then use for your specific purposes.13. Why do we use WGS84?WGS84 is widely used as a reference system for navigation, positioning, and mapping purposes. It provides a consistent and globally recognized coordinate system, allowing for accurate positioning and coordination between different systems and devices.14. Can WGS84 be UTM?WGS84 and UTM are different coordinate systems, but WGS84 can be transformed into UTM for specific applications or calculations. UTM zones cover a larger portion of the Earth compared to state plane coordinate zones, and they are based on a different projection and grid system.15. Is UTM in meters or feet?UTM coordinates are measured in meters, providing a consistent unit of measurement across the system. This allows for precise and accurate positioning on a Cartesian plane.16. How do I find my UTM zone?To find your UTM zone, you can follow these steps:1. Determine the longitude coordinate of the location you want to find the UTM zone for.2. Add 180 to the longitude value.3. Divide the result by 6.4. Round up the result to the next highest whole number. The resulting number will indicate your UTM zone.17. Is KML always in WGS84?Yes, KML (Keyhole Markup Language) coordinates are generally based on the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84) reference system. The coordinates are given in decimal degrees and follow the WGS84 latitude and longitude order.18. Does GPS always use WGS84?GPS itself uses the WGS84 reference system, but some GPS receivers can be set to convert the location into other reference systems, such as UTM or NAD-27. However, the default and most common setting is WGS84.19. Who uses WGS84?WGS84 is widely used by various organizations, including the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), NATO, International Hydrographic Office, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). It provides a standardized reference system for navigation, positioning, and targeting.20. How do I plot UTM coordinates on Google Earth? To plot UTM coordinates on Google Earth, you can use the “add position” tool. This tool allows you to input UTM coordinates, and Google Earth will automatically display the corresponding location on the map.21. Does Apple Maps use WGS84?Yes, Apple Maps uses the WGS84 reference system as its default datum for location services. This provides a standard coordinate system for accurate positioning on Apple Maps.22. Why use UTM instead of Lat Long? There are several reasons why UTM is preferred over Lat Long in certain applications:– UTM provides a constant distance relationship anywhere on the map, whereas the distance

About this appA simple tool to convert UTM coordinates to Lat Long coordinates (used in Google Maps) maps. For instance, if you have a military issued map but wish to use a Google Maps App for navigation - just input the UTM coordinates in the app and push "google maps" button. The app does not gather any data, stores nothing and does not send anything to a remote server. This improves safety, but no performance issues are sent to developers. In case of any issues - please leave a comment. The App does not use the network and does not require GPS.Data safetySafety starts with understanding how developers collect and share your data. Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region, and age. The developer provided this information and may update it over time.No data shared with third partiesLearn more about how developers declare sharingNo data collectedLearn more about how developers declare collectionWhat’s newFixed android 15 compatibility

The Map Projectionabove. You can enter either Lat,Long or Grid values but not both (for the same point). The same method applies for the other calibration points. For this map we have onlyused 2 points to derive the calibration but 3 or more points is preferred. What you are doing here is tying the map image X,Y coordinates to the actual geographicLat,Long or Grid coordinates. OziExplorer is then able to calculate a mathematicalequation to allow positions to be converted from map x,y points to geographic coordinatesand of course the inverse as well. This is a screen shot of the demonstration map showing calibration point 1. In thiscase I have chosen an intersection as my first calibration point, I can do this because Iknow the precise Lat, Long coordinates for the position. This map has grid lines so Icould have chosen the intersection of 2 grid lines, this would have given me the exactposition as well, in fact in normal circumstances this would normally be the preferred wayof doing it. I could also have used UTM Coordinates (or your selected grid) to specify theposition instead of Degrees and Minutes. To calibrate additional points you select the Point 2, Point 3 etc tabs, use the arrowkeys on the right hand side of the tabs to scroll more tabs into view. The calibration of maps is discussed fully in the Creating Maps topic in theHelp. (DO NOT do this now ) When you have entered all the calibration points you thenpress the Save Button
