Our VerdictThe setting of Onomichi proves that the long-running series still has some tricks, making Yakuza 6 a worthy finale for its main protagonist.PC Gamer's got your backOur experienced team dedicates many hours to every review, to really get to the heart of what matters most to you. Find out more about how we evaluate games and hardware.Need to knowWhat is it? The seventh Yakuza game, set before Like a Dragon in the chronology.Expect to pay $20/£15Developer RGG StudioPublisher SegaReviewed on GeForce GTX 1070, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 7 3700XMultiplayer? Yes, for minigamesLink Official siteOne of the peculiarities of Sega's PC port release schedule—releasing the series (almost) chronologically, rather than in the order they were made—is it lessens the original impact that Yakuza 6 once had. It's no longer a showcase for the new Dragon engine, because Yakuza Kiwami 2 exists and does that better. And it's not as experimental or new as Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which features turn-based combat and a different protagonist—making it a fine jumping on point for anyone looking to skip ahead to the very latest in the series. That means there are a lot of reasons not to play Yakuza 6, at least not yet. On PC, the entire series has released at a relatively breakneck pace, with the remasters of Yakuza 3-5 all arriving at the beginning of this year. Have you played Yakuza 5? You should: it's wild, arguably the most ambitious the series has ever been, and delightful as a result. Have you. Yakuza 5 Remastered Release Dates

5, 2025 by George In 2024, SEGA delivered an impressive lineup of games, solidifying its position as a powerhouse in the gaming industry. The year began with the highly acclaimed releases of Persona 3 Reload and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the latter of which expanded the Yakuza franchise by taking its beloved characters to new international settings. Over the summer, SEGA continued its winning streak with the multiplatform release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengence, which had previously been exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. However, the crown jewel of Sega’s year was Metaphor: ReFantazio, a brand-new IP from Atlus that garnered widespread praise and multiple awards for its innovative story and gameplay. These successes not only showcased Sega’s ability to reinvent its franchises but also its commitment to delivering fresh, high-quality experiences. Not surprising, SEGA has announced they will be focusing more on these two properties. SEGA’s stellar year culminated in it being named Metacritic’s Publisher of the Year, a title it has now won multiple times in the past. Metacritic calculates this award by averaging each publisher’s game scores and factoring in the ratio of positive to negative reviews. With a total of 325.5 points, SEGA surged from 9th place in 2023 to claim the top spot in 2024. This victory marks another milestone in Sega’s history, as it previously won the award in 2020, thanks to hits like Persona 5 Royal and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Capcom, the 2023 winner, came close to repeating its success with 323 points, while Microsoft also made significant strides, climbing to 9th place with 301 points. Sega’s 2024 triumph underscores its consistent ability to produce critically acclaimed games and reaffirms its legacy as one of the industry’s most respected publishers. SEGA’s New Focus: Why Sonic, Yakuza, and Atlus Are Top Priorities March 5, 2025 by George SEGA-Sammy’s latest fanicial report made one thing clear: The company will be focusing on what they consider its holy trinity which is Atlus JRPGs, Yakuza aka Like a Dragon titles and of course Sonic the Hedgehog brand. The wild thing is, SEGA is actually more focused on Japanese title more than ever because a decade a go Like a Dragon wasn’t considered a big pillar for SEGA; but seems to have released the Total War franchise on SEGA’s top three list. SEGA Europe’s issues are definitely something to talk about in its own post.Let’s look at what this new focus could mean:Continue Reading ➜ SONIC WEEKLY: Episode 102 Gamma + CrossWorlds First Impressions March 4, 2025 by Grant This week, Grant can’t pronounce “Gamma” but does have some thoughts on playing CrossWorlds closed network beta test and the conversation surrounding it. Seasons 1 Number of Episodes 12 Creator Masao Ohtake Streaming Service(s) Crunchyroll The Hinamatsuri manga lasted a decade, and followed mid-level yakuza Yoshifumi Nitta as he became the guardian of a mysterious girl with psychic powers called Hina. It starts off simply, but only gets trickier when they come across more super-powered girls who each aim to capture Hina or take her own. It finally got animated in 2018, and clicked well with viewers. But it only lasted 12 episodes, and left room for more episodes to come. Even then, it rushed through a lot of the manga's plot beats to tell a more action-packed tale at the cost of the story overall. The anime is still a fine viewing experience, though one that could've done with more time and episodes. The plot of Yakuza 0 is served up like a fresh bowl of udon noodles; simmering, full of twists and turns, and satisfying to the end. While I very much enjoyed the bone-cracking street fights, numerous oddball side characters, and the Lonely Planet guide’s worth of entertaining diversions along the way, it’s really the taut tale of betrayal and the bitter arm wrestle for power at its centre that kept me glued to the controller throughout.Yakuza 0 is set in 1988 and serves as an origin story for two of the series’ most prominent characters, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima, who find themselves caught up in a land war amongst rival clans. Whereas the previous game in the series, Yakuza 5, juggled five different storylines and felt somewhat convoluted as a result, Yakuza 0 benefits from focusing on the plights of Kiryu and Majima, each scorned by their respective families and whose paths ultimately converge in the end. It’s a gangster tale that adheres mostly to convention, with menacing mob bosses, car bombings, blackmail, and the like, but it’s a tale told well and told thoroughly. Much like the Metal Gear Solid series, Yakuza 0 isn’t afraid of taking control away from us for extended periods in order to deliver a lengthy cutscene to advance the plot and develop the characters, but I never felt in any way detached from the events onscreen thanks to the strong performances of the actors and the consistently powerful writing.Recent open-world releases struggle to compete

What the Critics Say 100% of critics recommend the game Overall:Transcendent Masterpiece Standout features:Gameplay Release date:February 21, 2025Genre:Action, Action-Adventure, Fighting, RPG All Reviews Summaries One More Game PHReview by Ricki BuzonFebruary 18, 2025 Although Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spinoff, it boasts a wealth of content that gives it the feel of a full-fledged game. The familiar gameplay elements of exploration and engaging side activities are preserved while adding a straightforwardly simple naval combat that adds to the experience. × One More Game PHReview by Ricki Buzon on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam DeckFebruary 18, 2025 Gameplay: Combat returns to the action-brawling style seen in previous entries, perfectly suited for Majima's wild character. Switching styles on the fly as Majima is an enjoyable mechanic in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, offering players the freedom to eliminate enemies creatively. Story: Adding to the intrigue, Majima suffers from amnesia and assumes the role of a pirate captain, now leading his crew. This unexpected twist in the storyline is surprisingly effective and hooks you in from the first minute. Graphics: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's presentation is visually stunning, featuring diverse biomes that draw the player's attention. Honolulu is bright and lively, while Madlantis exudes a dark and dreary atmosphere, fitting for a haven of pirates and yakuza. Sound: Music remains a major feature in the series, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is no exception. A music player allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes, and new songs like Majima's 'The Sun at 36.5°C' have been introduced. Controls: The controls are not without their flaws, as they seem slightly unresponsive at times, particularly with jumping not registering immediately. Dodging and jumping share the same button, which might cause confusion, especially when paired with camera issues. Daily StarReview by Simon HamalienkoFebruary 18, 2025 Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii may not be what anyone expected, but it's a fitting entry in a series that delights in surprising long-term fans and casual admirers alike. Whether you're interested in building your perfect pirate crew for hours on end, or just want to see the story through, there's a ton of things to do and with Majima around, it's a riot. × Daily StarReview by Simon Hamalienko on Xbox Series X|SFebruary 18, 2025 Gameplay: Majima has always had a unique fighting style that is fun to play, especially if you've spent most of your time playing as Kiryu, who prefers his fists to do the talking. He's got two fighting styles, and each is packed with powerful attacks, from firing a pistol, to creating clones of himself, to summoning a giant shark. Story: In the game's. Series. Yakuza KiwamiFor years, the Yakuza franchise has been somewhat of a best kept secret. Lately, however, these incredible games have gotten some well-deserved mainstream success. And, thanks to this success, these classic titles are finally, albeit slowly, making their way to PC with Yakuza Kiwami leading the charge. It’s a remake of the first Yakuza title, which was rolled out nearly 13 years ago in the US. With it, PC gamers can finally see how the franchise got its start, putting players in the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu as he battles his way through the Yakuza’s ranks. More than that, it’s a gripping mix of serious storytelling and silly moments – something that the Yakuza series would become famous for over the years. Horizon Zero DawnHorizon Zero Dawn may have started life as a Playstation exclusive when it came out in 2017. But, luckily for PC gamers and ray tracing enthusiasts, the AAA game from Guerilla Studios has been available on PC since August 2020.The game shares some basic features with other great open-world entries. You traverse through multiple different gorgeous environments over a large map with increasingly powerful enemies – though luckily, also with increasingly powerful weapons to take them down. And, as you do, you uncover an engrossing tale that takes tens of hours to complete. You play as Aloy, a hunter trying to uncover her own mysterious past in a post-apocalyptic world. While humanity struggles to survive as warring tribes and dangerous robot animals roam the countryside. And, as captivating as the story and environment is, a lot of the fun of the game comes from hunting these creatures. Each type of robot has different strengths and weaknesses, and you’ll have to adjust accordingly. Hacking and slashing won’t get you very far.If you enjoy stealth gameplay, planning a hunt, or a unique story and setting, you owe it to yourself to play Horizon Zero Dawn. Forza Horizon 4You might not quite get why Forza Horizon 4 is even on a list of the best open world games. After all, Forza is a racing series, not an open world game. However, you’d only be half right. Yes, it’s indeed a racing game, but the Forza Horizon series has always sat among the best open world games to date. And, Forza Horizon 4 takes that winning formula even further. Not only are all of the systems that were in place in 2016’s Forza Horizon 3 present here, but they’ve also been polished to craft one of the smoothest open world racing games we’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. The map is slightly smaller than the previous offering, but Forza Horizon 4’s world changes seasons every week, which changes how each track plays every time you play it (or, at least until you’ve played it on 4 separate weeks). Simply put, Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most fun racing games on the market. With all the added open world content – like collectible cars and randomly placed ramps
