Question:Running Windows 7, Home Premium with Firefox 18.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11.Adobe Flash does not work in Firefox probably 90% of the time. However it worksfine in Chrome and IE. On Firefox, which is my usual browser, when clicking toplay a YouTube video or any other video on any other website, the following isdisplayed: “The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. No report is available. Reloadthe page to try again.” Reloading the page of course has no effect. Firefox,Windows and Adobe Flash are all up-to-date. This is driving me nuts and Ireally hope you can help. My computer man says his crashes all the timetoo. In this excerpt from Answercast #101, I look at an installation of Firefox that is crashing whilewatching videos.Flash crashes in FirefoxWell, there are two approaches to this problem. There’s the practicalapproach, which you’re probably not going to like, and then there’s theinvestigative approach.Switch browsersThe practical approach is… well, you know what? If it’s working in IE andChrome, use IE or Chrome.Clearly, things are working there – just avoid the problem rather thanfixing the problem.Try to fix FirefoxNow, as to why it’s crashing in Firefox? That’s the investigative approach.Let’s take a look and see what is going on in Firefox. The very first thing that I would do is actually disable all of the add-ons inFirefox. That may happen to disable the Adobe Flash add-on, which you can thenre-enable to test out whether it’s made a difference. If it hasn’t, what I would actually do is uninstall Firefox completely;uninstall Adobe.
